Construction on Victoria’s first fully-protected bike lane is moving speedily along, with signals now being installed and concrete poured. We were enjoying the sun, taking pictures and observing the progress yesterday. If you haven’t been downtown recently, take a look below. Photos start in the 900-block of Pandora Ave (between Vancouver St and Quadra St), and head west towards Store St & the Johnson St Bridge. Can’t wait to ride on it? Neither can we! City staff say that it is expected to be open in April, with a possible soft-opening of the first two blocks a bit earlier. The GVCC is planning a celebration as part of the opening. The City of Victoria has released the design for the next street to get the Biketoria treatment – Fort St. A second east-west two-way protected bike lane, the Fort St lane will run from Wharf to Cook streets.
