10 hardy souls (and this time we really mean it - the forecast high for the day was only 4 C) gathered at Selkirk Station bright and early Sunday morning. We took our time on the seaside route around James Bay and along Dallas Road. The group split so that some riders could avoid the steep Gonzales Hill and rejoined on the other side. We had several timeouts along the way to rest and enjoy the scenery. We were warmed by the sun for most of the journey to Cadboro Bay and it felt quite warm having our lunch on the beach until the clouds came and we lost our sun and suddenly it was like being in a deep freeze. We reconvened at the Starbucks and warmed up with coffees and a couple of their outdoor heat lamps.
The return was very pleasant along Midland and through Estevan Village finally connecting with the Haultain Bike Lane to take us back to downtown with people leaving along the way as they passed through their own neighbourhoods. The last 4 split up after crossing the Bay Bridge.
Despite the cold a good time was had by all!
