Saanich’s Active Transportation Plan goes to council

Saanich’s Active Transportation Plan goes to council

UPDATE: Saanich council unanimously approved the Active Transportation Plan on Monday night. Thanks to all that worked on this and sent your comments in. On to building!

Saanich’s Active Transportation Plan is going to council and we are excited. The plan talks about a network of All Ages and Abilities bikeways, better end of trip facilities and a lot more.

You can read the final plan and send a letter to council to yourself to

What should you say? Talk about protected bike lanes will help you and your family get around, how excited you are to see a complete network in Saanich or how new bikeways like Pandora elsewhere in the region are great and you cannot wait to ride something similar in Saanich.

Mayor and Council,

The Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition (GVCC) strongly supports the proposed Active Transportation Plan. We’re pleased to see Saanich formally acknowledge the important role of active transportation, and create a comprehensive long-term plan for increasing trips by walking, cycling and transit. The Plan’s consultation process has been thorough, and many GVCC members have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and surveys. The Plan contains both long term aspirational networks, as well as short and medium term improvements that serve as a roadmap on how to put this plan into action.

We look forward to working with Saanich staff and stakeholders to see this long term vision realized.

Thank you,

Edward Pullman
President, Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition
