Say yes to Wharf & Humboldt bike lanes

Say yes to Wharf & Humboldt bike lanes

The next phase of the downtown AAA bikeway grid is coming on Wharf & Humboldt St, connecting from the Johnson St Bridge down Wharf St and through to Cook St. We need your voice to say yes and keep these important protected bike lanes moving.

What’s being planned?

The current design calls for a two-way protected bike lane on the west (water) side of Wharf, then a protected bike lane on the south side of Humboldt to Douglas St. and a shared street beyond to Cook St. The city has not posted the final designs, but the emerging concepts can be viewed on their site.

What about Cook St?

The City says that Cook St is still under discussion. We support Cook St as a AAA bike lane because of its excellent connections and better grades than Vancouver St, but we know that there are lots of opinions both ways. If you love Cook St, you can let the city know below as well.

What should I say?

Talk about how Wharf St will affect you – how it will make your commute better, allow you to access a part of the city you haven’t been able to by bike or something similar. If you are already using Pandora, talk about your experiences on that protected bike lane
