Victoria has approved the Fort St protected bike lane and connectors in both Oaklands and Fernwood neighbourhoods. We are happy to see these corridors move forward, but disappointed that Oak Bay Ave was not chosen. Read on for our thoughts about the bikeway network.

Second-chance! Support a 30 km/h pilot in Saanich

Last October Saanich started asking municipalities across the region to join them in a 40 km/h speed limit pilot project, due to start in 2021. We asked Saanich and others to support 30 km/h, but they ultimately stuck with 40 km/h. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, that pilot has been delayed, so three Saanich councillors have asked to reconsider 30 km/h.

As bike riders, we are all concerned about keeping our bikes secure. One terrific way to deter theft is to register your bike to deter thieves and to help police to return your bike if it’s ever recovered.VicPD has recently decided to switch over from their current register to 529 Garage. For riders who have registered bikes with the VicPD, you will need to re-register your bikes with Project529.

Support a lit & separated Goose & Lochside

The CRD has released a report outlining plans to widen the most used and congested sections of the Lochside and Galloping Goose Trails, from Selkirk Trestle to the Mckenzie Interchange on the Goose and Mckenzie Ave by Borden St on Lochside.
