Say yes to Wharf & Humboldt bike lanes

UPDATE: Council approved the Wharf & Humboldt lanes this morning, construction to begin in Oct 2018 with completion in the spring of 2019. Thanks to all you who wrote in and supported if over the past few years

The next phase of the downtown AAA bikeway grid is coming on Wharf & Humboldt St, connecting from the Johnson St Bridge down Wharf St and through to Cook St. We need your voice to say yes and keep these important protected bike lanes moving.

What’s being planned?

The current design calls for a two-way protected bike lane on the west (water) side of Wharf, then a protected bike lane on the south side of Humboldt to Douglas St. and a shared street beyond to Cook St. The city has not posted the final designs, but the emerging concepts can be viewed on their site.

What about Cook St? It is now Vancouver St

City Staff have decided to recommend with building the north-south corridor on Vancouver St. We still support Cook St as a AAA bike lane because of its excellent connections and better grades than Vancouver St, but we accept the staff decision to recommend Vancouver St. We know that it is more important to get the network built
